It’s contract negotiation time for Days of Our Lives again, and DAYS writers might want to take a bit of a break until NBC and Sony reach a deal.

According to Daytime Confidential, sources say head writers Josh Griffith and Dena Higley have been told to put those computers away for the time being. With the show written through September of this year, they can afford not to write for a few weeks until DAYS is officially renewed.

NBC and Sony Pictures Television are in their usual contract negotiations now and last month an NBC rep said the network was confident a deal could be reached.

Ratings have continued to climb for the 50-year-old soap since the fall when Griffith and Higley took over the head scribe roles. With a rating surge like that, it’s doubtful the two major parties won’t reach a contract agreement.

DAYS airs weekdays on NBC. Leave a comment in the section below or in our brand-new soap forums.
