The lawlessness in Salem has been beyond the pale since January. Hope took matters into her own hands when she thought Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) was responsible for Bo’s death and killed him in cold blood? Immediately, we wondered what “Days of Our Lives” was thinking when it did that to a cop character. It also reminded us of when Anna shot Carlos in the same manner last year on “General Hospital,” but at least her guilt ate away at her and Carlos isn’t dead after all–yet.
Not only did Hope (Kristian Alfonso) kill a man (albeit an evil one), but both Rafe (Galen Gering) and Roman (Josh Taylor) knew and helped her cover it up. THEN, she even got her job back as a cop. If that wasn’t bad enough, DAYS then turned a teenager into a killer, but again told us it was ok cause his victim was one of the bad guys (or gals, as the case may be). And again, Commissioner Roman Brady turned a deaf ear.
However, when Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) drives drunk on New Year’s Eve and costs Daniel his life, Roman (Josh Taylor) has his son arrested and tomorrow he will watch him be sentenced to five years in prison. Nobody is saying what Eric did was right and that he shouldn’t pay, but WHY is he the ONLY one who has to pay of all the murderous crimes committed this year.
We even have a teen rapist roaming free with vigilante kids kidnapping him, but nothing happens to them either. Only a former priest and legacy character has to now spend five years behind bars because DAYS decided to drop Greg Vaughan’s contract. And that’s ok. It happens. Actors lose contracts all the time. However, DAYS did not have to write a completely hypocritical story to remove Eric from the canvas.
