Showrunners at “Days of Our Lives” (Days) have a casting call out for a take-no-prisonsers er…prison inmate who goes by the moniker, “Sheila.”
Could this mean someone in Salem is headed up the river? Soap Oper Digest seems confident enough to say, “Looks like someone in Salem is going to prison.” If they’re right, there are plenty of candidates for this unfortunate soul.
Odds are it’s a woman, given that Sheila is a woman’s name. So will Summer (Marie Wilson) finally be caught swiping things that aren’t hers? Or will her con artist ways get her in legal hot water?
News of Wilson’ firing from the show hit the presses several weeks ago, so we know she has to go somehow. In addition, soaps often keep characters alive but off-screen by visits to the big house.
A sad option to think of is poor Abby (Kate Mansi), will her continuing delusions advance to a break with reality so severe that she actually harms someone because of them?
If so, keep in mind that a compromised mental state won’t always get someone out of a jail sentence. Mansi too will exit the show sometime soon, adding to the possibility that her story will bring Sheila to our screens.
An unlikely, but nevertheless guilty and therefore possible, contender for this dubious distinction might be Kayla (Mary Beth Evans). She knows of and has been silent about her son smothering a comatose Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) as she lay helpless in her bed.

Granted, police commissioner, Roman (Josh Taylor) knows of Joey’s (James Lastovic) crime too. But Roman too could be in trouble if the truth comes out.
Of course, someone could be visiting someone else in prison and come across Sheila. In that case, practically anyone in Salem gets thrown in the possible mix!
Yet another possibility: Sheila is a brand new character connected to no one and has her own storyline. With all the shake-ups behind the scenes at Days of late, this option can’t be counted out.
Whoever comes across Sheila and for whatever reason, we know one thing for absolute certain. High drama will ensue!
