A very special “Days of Our Lives” fan got a very special surprise last week for her 100th birthday when Deidre Hall and Kristian Alfonso surprised her using modern technology.
Ann Young recently turned 100 and couldn’t imagine why News 12 of Flagstaff, AZ placed a laptop in front of her for a video Skype call. However, when she saw some familiar faces she couldn’t believe her eyes.
“Marlena?” said the birthday girl as Hall appeared on her screen with Alfonso. Both wished her a happy birthday, but then Alfonso had to return to work.
Hall stayed on the chat a while longer and discovered both herself and Young have sons named David. The actress then promised to send her some of her books, as well as talk to her next year again on her 101st birthday.
Hall also asked how Young stays so young at heart and she answered, “Oh, surround yourself with young people, and lie about your age.”
Young’s daughter explained to News 12 that her mother, who has watched DAYS for more than 20 years, feels a special connection to the DAYS characters. Her family even bought her the 50th anniversary DAYS book as a special gift.
