Say Hello to Dr. Dan Once Again in a Brand-New Shawn Christian Film

When Dr. Dan died on “Days of Our Lives” in January, we knew we’d see Shawn Christian again. The talented actor has started a blossoming film career and now he offers some insight into his latest flick.

The DAYS alum stars in “Savannah Sunrise,” based around a family that arranges to get a grandmother to her new retirement community in Savannah, according to the actor’s website.

The film is a comedic look at how our work lives fit into our personal lives and how families get along—or don’t. Christian plays a character named Phi Miles.

“Phil is Joy’s laid-back husband. Artistic, casual, and easygoing, he is a successful, published author who works from home,” Christian states on his website.

He’s the “fun” parent, according to on-screen wife, Joy, a career-oriented mom who focuses on work and achievement. Meanwhile, Phil’s mom has spent her life nurturing her family.

“I always try to mediate between the two of them [Joy and his mother] just to kind of keep the family flowing. Fixer Phil, we like to call him!” Christian told Soaps In Depth.

Because Joy and Phil’s mom have different takes on life, the two often clash. In the course of their voyage to Savannah, they learn from each other—and laugh along the way!

Christian left DAYS earlier this year when his Daniel Jonas died in a car multi-car accident that rocked Salem. His loss devastated his mother, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), and fiance, Nicole (Arianne Zucker).
